Casting Classes, Fly fishing Lessons, and More..

Oregon fly fishing lessonFrom beginners to expert alike, we love to teach and have the class for you.  We offer everything from a two and a half hour, Intro 101 class (which includes a casting lesson) to a more comprehensive intro course that includes fishing! We also offer specialty classes including Euro Nymping 101, Trout Spey, Drift Boat Rowing. As well as casting and tying classes depending on availability. 

Combine a fly fishing class one day with a guide trip the next and a couple nights stay at the camp for a full emersion “Intro to Fly Fishing Weekends” package deal is the best introduction to the sport!

Beginning Fly Fishing 101

This is a 2.5 hour class taught at our fly shop in which we cover: 
~ Basic terminology and equipment
~ Basic Entomology
~ Knot tying (learn the clinch, surgeons, blood, and perfection knots)
~ Fly casting (learn to false cast, roll cast, tension cast,etc..)

All this, and as many questions, and as much casting practice as we can fit in the allotted time.
A syllabus with knot diagrams and a fly rod rental is included.

Beginning Fly Fishing, Deschutes River

This is our most popular and best Intro fly fishing option.  The first bit is spent at our fly shop learning about the basic equipment, terminology, knot tying, entomology, fly selections, etc… On the lawn in front of the fly shop we then learn the basic fundamentals of fly casting. After the first segment and lunch, we wader up and head to the river which is within walking distance or a short drive from the shop for an afternoon walk in guide trip.
A syllabus with knot diagrams and a fly rod and wader rental is included. Plan on bringing a lunch or better yet you can grab a burger and beer out of our deli!

A fishing license and flies are not included but can be purchased the morning of at the fly shop.
 

Euro Nymphing 101

Euro nymphing has taken over! Many anglers are discovering how productive and fun this niche nymphing technique can be! Euronymphing is proving to be very productive on the Deschutes! Learn all about it with this 6 hour course.
The class, like all the others starts in the fly shop. Learning all about the different lines, leaders, rods and flies that are specific to this type of fishing. We will go over the rigging set ups including different leader formulas, flies selection and more. 
After the fly shop segment and after lunch you will head to the river for an after noon walk and wade session. Where you will get to try your hand first hand at Euro nymphing.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

For most classes a syllabus or hand outs, and equipment rentals (fly rods, waders, & boots as needed) are included!

WHAT’S NOT

Fishing licenses, flies, leaders, etc and instructor/guide gratuities are not included.

BOOKING POLICY:

50% deposit required to secure dates at the time of booking. Deposits are refunded for cancellation with a 30 day minimum advanced notice for all day trips and classes. Any deposits received within 30 days are non-refundable. Trips are ran rain or shine, River Borne Outfitters reserves the right to reschedule the trip because of adverse/and or unsafe weather conditions or because of any other unforeseen reasons.
